The diario de ibiza reported this morning that Ibiza Town will install 5 cameras around Sa Penya district.
Ricardo Albin announced that in April of next year the five cameras should be already operational and, depending on the results, will consider extending “such measures” to other parts of the municipality.
However there is considerable debate as to whether CCTV actually works - This Is London article. Unlike the UK however, the installation of CCTV is tightly controlled which is why its taken Ibiza Town council since 2006 to get permission to install the cameras so thankfully don’t expect UK style coverage any time soon.
