We’ve set up a free wifi hotspot here in ibiza for our local bar below our apartment - so we can work from there. We had a wander around Santa Eulalia with our iphone looking for wifi hotspots - we found loads. As a test we’re sitting in the bar on our iphone adding in a wifi hotspot direct into the iphoneibiza database and then doing a blog about it while having a beer in the sun - it can’t get better than that…

The Diario this morning reported that the Island council is going to propose that the all the clubs will have to close at 6am (as normal) but not open until 4.30pm - (which basically only affects DC10 & Space). However they’ve said that the boroughs can allow the clubs extensions/exemptions if its between May 25th & June 5th and 1st - 15th October. This is obviously trying to get the clubs to extend their season…

What is strange is that there a couple of music bars who are openly advertising that they are “after hours” - ie they open at 7am…

Paul Crane, Kinky Malinki’s founder and director, says that:

“It’s going to massive for us and we have got some really exciting parties on the horizon.

A lot of things are coming together just at the right time – we are going back to Ibiza, the first time for 4 years”

Saturday was the start of the mad mike pool competition in the tall ships but sunday was the final of los corales bar pool competition which dom won (better luck in the tall ships PJ):

It is with great pleasure we can launch www.iphoneibiza.com

This revolutionary phone is perfect for us. When we found out you can embed telephone numbers onto a regular webpage and that the iphone uses the safari web browser and incorporates wifi - we had to do something with it.

So we’ve taken our ideas with google maps and the A-Z principle and married them together for an iphone specific website. So far we have put up listings of all the hotels and restaurants in Ibiza - you can browse the site on an iphone and everytime you see this icon: - you simply press it and the iphone will dial it automatically…

We’re also adding all the free wifi hotspots around the island - so you can go and have a coffee or a beer, browse the site on your iphone for free and work out what’s on that night, book a restaurant - or even buy the club ticket for that night….

Once we’ve figured out how to take a decent picture of our iphone we’ll put it up…

We’ve got a ton of stuff thats hopefully going to make people here and elsewhere look at us differently - in the meantime here’s next months cover - the magazine was finished tonight and went to the printers - available in all good kioskos and some bad ones too on March 1st.

Over the next week we’ll put up our interviews with Estanislao Pérez Gago who is head of the National Police and Pepa Mari who is Ibiza’s council representative for tourism…

Fewer berths but more space for larger boats – this is the main thrust of the plans of the new licensee for Marina Ibiza Nueva, the Serveis Marítims Port d’Eivissa (Semar) consortium. Among other things Semar is planning the construction of a new, 100-metre long jetty as well as additional docks. Additionally the shops on land are to be reorganised and the El Divino club will have to make way for a clubhouse. Just a few weeks ago Semar received the license from the Balearic Islands Port Authority to run Ibiza Nueva for the next 17 years. In return they will have to pay Euro5.4 million in yearly license fees to the authorities.

But bear in mind this:

The project, which was presented to the public in February, must still be approved by the port authority. According to Semar, the marina’s restructuring will cost them around euros 2.7 million. At this time the company still hasn’t made any announcement about the prices for the new and improved berths. They want to wait until the Balearic Islands Port Authority gives final approval to their plans.

It’s fair to say the weather hasn’t been brilliant for sunsets the past week. Although during the day its not normally been bad, by the time of early evening the clouds seem to have encamped which has meant there’s been no sunset videos. Today was the first time we’ve been able to do a sunset video.

The anniversary of Metal Mikey’s death is on Saturday, so the Tall Ships have an invitation only pool tournament - no prizes, no entry fee, no cash - just a rememberence of Mike. We’ll put up an obit and a couple of photos on Saturday.
