El Bar in Pacha’s El Hotel will be doing live rock and blues from Sunday - it seems that Pacha have recognised there’s a market for rock here as well…

The 11th DJ Awards taking place at Pacha on Thursday 25th September have announced the nominees for 2008.

Some blurb:

This year the DJ Awards have collaborated with some key names in the music industry to choose what is one of the most comprehensive list of Categories and Nominees since its creation 11 years ago.

There are 7 new music genre categories - Minimal, Tech House, Progressive House, Psy-Trance, Deep House, Hip Hop and Downtempo & Eclectic, plus 6 new Technology awards including Software Production Tool, MP3 Player, DJ Mixer, there is also a new category celebrating the International Dance Nation of the Year, with another 7 “Special” awards. The prestigious “Kryptonite” awards go to a host of DJs from different musical genres. These awards are extremely important to each of the nominees as they are voted for by the public, voting will start on MONDAY 21 JULY and will close on SUNDAY AUGUST 17, voting can be done via www.djawards.com.

In the past, this event has been attended by dance music’s top DJs, previous winners, such as Erick Morillo, Roger Sanchez, Sven Vath, Tiesto, Paul Oakenfold, Danny Tenaglia, Ferry Corsten, Carl Cox plus many more have had the honour of receiving the mythic “Kryptonite” award. This event continues to be a family reunion amongst the DJ collective, who love to come together and celebrate the industry they have influenced.

There will be some very special guest performances during the awards ceremony, with the official after party continuing with the closing party from the F**k Me I’m Famous Crew featuring David Guetta.

The theme for this is years event is “DO NOT CHANGE THE CLIMATE, CHANGE YOURSELF!” highlighting the voice of concern to the music industry and how we as an industry can help to make change by changing our attitudes.

The artwork for the Climate Change theme of the event is also reflected in the cover of the 11th Edition CD compilation featuring the best tracks of the season all in their original versions.

Our lovely friend Lorna interviewed Danny Whittle on the first day and has put the first video interview up (we held the camera so blame us for the camera work!)

This mornings 1st panel was about synchronisation - or as i used to know it: 3rd party exploitation - I have to declare an interest since my job used to be to clear and authorise UK owned Polygram (Universal) repertoire for use in TV ads, Radio commercials, premiums (giveaways) etc worldwide, so for me it was fascinating to see 6 serious players on the panel discuss synch’ing.
We also did a short video interview with Danny Whittle which we’ll put up as soon as we can.

This afternoon’s panel should be interesting with nearly all the club owners on the same table as the Consel….:

Today we got down to the task of putting ibiza club tickets on our iphoneibiza.com website.

After mucho help from my old mate kosso we went live about an hour ago - there’s some tweaking to be done, but we’re happy with it so far.

We’re just a few days away now from adding in the full club listings for another classic summer of dance music on the island. It’s all kicking off slightly earlier than usual this year:

We picked up a flyer at the weekend for Pacha’s Semana Santa (easter week) parties:

• Ibiza Rocks Hotel will open probably around the middle of May (ish) - expect a surprise “do”…
• Pete Tong leaves Pacha and starts his own night at Eden called Wonderland
• Defected will be back at Pacha
• Amnesia opening party will be 14th June
• People from Ibiza opening party at Amnesia will be June 21st
• Rogue / Good For Nothing will be back at Judgement Sundays at Eden - opening party is 8th June
• Radio 1 Weekend will be Fri 1st- Sun 3rd August
• Space Opening 1st June
• Eden Opening May 31st
