From Las Dalias’ Myspace page - we echo the sentiments completely…
It’s happening! This week we receive the new album!
Las Dalias is about to take a step in a direction hitherto untravelled on this sunny isle…. “Acoustic Ibiza” will allow itself to swerve away from the ever more decrepit pitfall of electronic swill that has progressively inundated the island since the rise of Clubbing some 20 years back…. Strange to find that “modern” is really “back to the Roots” and viceversa…A full circle has taken us back to the days of musicianship once more….
“Acoustic Ibiza” is the first Ibizan album to hide the mouse and mousepad in the backroom and allow instrumentists to sit in the parlour with the Sunday crockery….The artists involved are real and visible, they all belong to the musical family of Las Dalias. They play live and are bigger than life more often than not… Yep! These are songs folks, not just tracks….
Often the textures of the songs are rough as the rocks at Aguas Blancas, sometimes as colourful as the red earth here in the “hood” in San Carlos, sometimes as poignant as a violet daybreak over the bay of San Vicente….appropriately so, Ibiza is this and much more. Those of us that camp on beyond the last Easyjet of October, have felt the gentle breeze of autumn running chill down our backs as the sun disappears over Benirras.
God what it’s like to love Ibiza….!!
Further info on the album shortly….

We hadn’t been to the Las Dalias Hippy Market on Saturdays for ages - (probably something to do with football…), but since there was an early game and the rain had stopped we thought we outght to.
Unlike the Hippy Market in Es cana on Wednesdays - this doesn’t bring the entire area to standstill. Its far less “touristy” and we love sitting outside at the bar and just watching the world go buy. Afterwards we caught up with a cuple of friends at the San Carlos main meeting point (Anita’s Bar) and then later went to the main square in Santa Eulalia for some live music. An impressive Drummming and Flamenco display finished off with some really good “rock music”.

Last night Las Dalias celebrated their 53rd birthday. As usual it was a virtual roadblock outside and was packed inside.

This past few week has seen an amazing contrast music wise. First off we met the Hungover Stuntmen at Andy Taylors studio, Tuesday was Ibiza Rocks, Wednesday we saw young talent at Morna International College and last night the amazingly talented Paco Fernandez in probably his ideal setting…
Las Dalias is a small venue that is arguably the true home of live music in Ibiza - its history is littered with some of the bigest names in rock: (check their myspace site here).
Watching Paco play in any setting is great but when its in the gardens of Las Dalias on a lovely warm summer evening its something special. Latterly accompanied by Jon Michell on guitar and a beautiful spanish dancer, Paco and his small band entranced everyone. If you’re not moved by this then you probably don’t have a pulse.

The legendary Paco Fernandez y los Amigos de Sol will be playing at Es Cana’s Hippy Market at Punta Arabi on the the North East side of Ibiza on Wedsnesday (30th May) at 2pm.
The live gig will also be broadcast on the local radio station Ibiza Sonica on 95.2fm. They broadcast online, so even if you’re not in Ibiza you can still enjoy the gig
Paco will also be playing regularly at Las Dalias throughout the summer, you can see who’s playing at las Dalias here.

Las Dalias are “reopening” their restaurant tomorrow night (4th April) from 8.30pm. Playing live will be Vagabundos de Lujo & Friends. We shall be there but one member of the team will probably be watching a footy game first…
