After smashing it up at Ibiza Rocks in July Dizzee Rascal will be back on Ibiza for Manumission’s Coney Island Review at Amnesia on Friday 5th August 2008.
Never ones to shy away from a good old bump and grind, the folks behind Ibiza’s most flamboyant night out: MIKE & CLAIRE MANUMISSION and their very extended family thought it most appropriate that Britain’s Dizzee Rascal add the icing on the cake to the Manumission Masquerade Ball this Friday in Amnesia.
Now it’s Dizzee’s Showtime on the Manumission Terrace. Wear a mask and get ready for more mayhem at Amnesia, Ibiza. The Rascal will perform a 45 minute live show, starting at 02.30am.
The Soundtrack… will be lovingly provided not only Live & Direct from Dizzee Rascal, Newham Generals and Paco Fernandez but also by this fine team of hand picked music maestros: Lottie, Jon Carter, Fred Falke and Griff.
The Culture Fest… A heady combination of music, art, fashion, performance, dance, beauty, glamour and fabulousness, all brought together with pure Manumission passion.
The Show and its Cast… coming to life on the Manumission Terrace throughout the night, a spectacular stage show with a cast including Johnny Golden, Antonio Culebras, Polly Fey, The Manumission maidens and the Dynamite Hosts.

In keeping with our efforts in world domination, we’ve soft launched podcast ibiza. Since we love google maps and google have introduced the new google earth plugin we’ve taken advantage of that.
We’ll be putting in more mix sets and podcasts up throughout the summer as well as having more clubbing blogs from friends like Cila..
We’ll also be putting up video interviews and much more multimedia stuff by our friend Lorna at lovemusic.fm…

It was great that a couple of really good friends who are promoting Los Fabulosos at the newly refurbished Somni club in Figuretes got some front page credit in todays Sun newspaper online: front page link - los fab article. They’ll be on Sonica Radio next Thursday between 4 and 6pm with Hugo playing a couple of typical huge tracks.
We’re also hearing rumours of an island institution making headways into Ibiza Town - watch this space….
Today it chucked down and we had a huge thunder and lightning storm but everyone agreed that we needed it and that it probably signals the start of stupidly hot weather until february…. Tomorrow is the mother of opening parties as Cream starts at Amnesia and then next week sees the opening of Manumission at the revamped Amnesia as well as obviously the Ibiza Rocks opening party with the Pigeon Detectives.

MIKE & CLAIRE… CLONES AND ZOMBIES… WALL OF SOUND… MARK RONSON… THE BAREFOOT DOCTOR… FLAMENCO GUITARS… MYLO… FATBOYSLIM… OPERATIC MERMAIDS… HUNKY SAILORS!

The Soundtrack…
Renowned for their vanguard ways, this year Manumission have enlisted the help of Mark (Wall of Sound) Jones and between them, have put together a line up that will have Ibiza shaking in its platform shoes. From Zane Lowe to 2ManyDJs, Mylo to FatBoySlim, Kissy Sell Out to Mark Ronson, these are merely a few of the must see/must hear guests that are set to provide the soundtrack to Manumission 2008. With this year’s parties taking over both rooms of the world’s best club, it’s a match made in Heaven and a gift from the Gods for any discerning music buff.
The Culture Fest…
But Manumission, as always, is not just about the music; rather, it is a cultural explosion that this year incorporates elements of opera from Belgium’s appraised Elise Caluwaerts, Flamenco from the island’s very own Paco Fernandez, costumes from the hand of one of Spain’s finest couturiers, Manuel Albaran, film from Phil Silcock, art from Sergio Ferrer and life changing affirmations from the Barefoot Doctor.
The King & Queen of Manumission, Mike and Claire will take to the stage, joined by their ever adoring and loving crew and cast, in a story of love and gore, life and death, glitter and gyrations, acrobatics and disco antidotes.
The Show and its Cast…
With a storyline based on the weird and the wonderful, the Manumission ‘Coney Island Review’ combines a cast of beauties and freaks in a four act tale of Vaudevillian mischief.
Johnny Golden, Antonio Culebras, Polly Fey, Antonio de la Rosa, the Dynamite Boys and the Manumission Girls are merely a few of the names that make up the momentous cast in a tale of kidnapping and cloning, anti-corporate clampdown and chipping.
Set to a soundtrack created especially for Manumission by A Human, and including lyrics penned by the Queen herself, Claire Manumission, the story tells of the evil Fraudster and the Dandy Doctor’s attempt to kidnap and clone the Manumission crew before dooming them forever to a life of Zombie Hedonism set in a dangerous drag room of transvestites… will our heroes escape from the clutches of the Terrible Two and continue on their Manumission World Tour??
Only one way to find out..
Never one to shy from the weird and the wonderful, this year Manumission is also presenting the ‘Freak of the Week’ with special guests including Lucky, the World’s Most Tattooed Man, and Baby The Acrobatic Vagina.. say no more.

We’re getting a lot of search queries for Ibiza Rocks Hotel 2008 and the location so we’ve done a quick map using our favourite google maps application: As you can see its right in the middle of San Antonio and will be opening in May. Judging by the number of searches we expect it to be chocker all summer.

26-12-07 edit: Since First Choice & Thompsons website and others have named the hotel I suppose we might as well. Club Paraiso is the name. This was the original pre-party venue for Manumissions NYE 1999 bash:

btw, “nirvana/heaven/amsterdam:” add a “d” and you have paradise (ish) - which could be nirvana, heaven etc and in Amsterdam, Club Paradiso is a live music venue thats seen every band under the sun play there - (a bit like the Dutch equivalent of the Marquee Club in London)
Back at the end of October we blogged here :
“Hopefully we’ll be able to give out some interesting news tomorrow (or maybe later this week) about an island institutions plans for 2008…”
“Earlier in the year we wanted to announce that the Kaiser Chiefs were playing Ibiza Rocks but we were on an embargo so we made an oblique reference on our Manumission dress rehearsal blog here: “a precious stone thrice over”: which was of course the chorus to the Kaiser Chiefs “Ruby” who were then annouced the next day - so on that basis here’s an oblique reference: crossroads, nelson mandela, nirvana/heaven/amsterdam, having a kip, chickens…”
Now that Ibiza Rocks have put up their website for their new hotel we can reveal what that cryptic sentence meant:
crossroads: (sorry, we cant remember!)
nelson mandela: a reference to how Andy & Mike named Manumission: “we called it Manumission, which means freedom from slavery”
nirvana/heaven/amsterdam: - cant reveal that yet as its not publicly known - but another clue is in the very similar name of something in Amsterdam - which is coincidentally quite relevant to Ibiza Rocks…
having a kip - hotel obviously
chickens… a reference to “the egg” in san antonio
As soon as we’re allowed to say more we will ….
