astarteImagine a beautiful Ibicenco country hotel set in magnificent grounds in one of the remotest and unspoilt corners of the island - yet, because the island is so small, still within half an hour's spectacular drive of anywhere else you might care to go...

Imagination is a wonderful thing, but this place actually exists - it's called Astarte.

Astarte is the assimilation of a Phoenician goddess from Mesopotamia who represented the cult to Mother Nature, to life, fertility and the exaltation of love. The Phoenicians founded Ibosim (Ibiza) in the year 654 BC.

astarte They introduced the Punic language to the island along with their religion, rites and gods, among whom we find Astarte. It is thought that the cathedral of Ibiza town was probably erected over the remains of an ancient temple devoted to Astarte. You may know her better by her other name - Tanit.

However - back to the hotel of your dreams. The transformation of what was a centuries old finca into the stylish yet intimate ten room hotel was only completed in 2009, so everything is in tip top condition.

The huge illuminated swimming pool is only the start of what you'll find in the grounds. An outdoor gym for the workout and large shaded yoga area and Jacuzzi for enhancing your personal relaxation techniques, massages and any other assistance you might desire are available and all are complemented by a spectacular underground wine cellar and, of course, wi-fi internet connection emanating from the reception area built in a conservatory in the garden.

Bicycles are also provided for the use of guests, as the peace and quiet of the unique San Mateo valley adjoining the spectacular northen coast of Ibiza is renowned for its excellent cycle paths and its uniquely peaceful ambience.

You'll drive out of the valley quietly on your way to the noisier corners of the island and return relieved to be back in the tranquility...

But don't take our word for it - check it out for yourself...
