White Island Corner Shop, Ibiza

There are some moments living here in our paradise called Ibiza when you wake up in the morning yearning for a cup of English tea, a roast with Bisto gravy, or even a Mars bar.

This is, of course, completely irrational, but a 'yearning' is a yearning and has to be satiated.

If you live on the eastern side of Ibiza and are a normal human being, help is at hand with the arrival of the White Island Corner Shop in Santa Eulalia.

Yes, civilization has finally arrived in Santa Eulalia in the form of a proper corner shop that's open all hours - just like those fabulous 'Pakistani run' emporiums, that proved to be the plus side of immigration policy when we were kids back in the UK. A proper miniature British supermarket.

The White Island Corner Shop is just that, on the corner opposite the car park down the road from the Eroski supermarket (that we all still refer to as the Syp). Despite the fact that they stay open throughout the traditional siesta break (2 - 5 pm), their stated aim is to keep the prices of comparable goods as close to those of the nearby supermarkets as possible.

They've obviously overlooked the fact that the only time you can find a parking spot in central Santa Eulalia nowadays is during the siesta - they'll be mobbed...

In any event, they have no need to fear the local opposition - there's no other British supermarket in town.

A quick glance around the shop reveals that their product range stretches from brand name 'cook-in' sauces and traditional British tinned foods to British brand name frozen meals and the popular vegetarian option, Quorn & Linda McCartney, even proper Dettol and other well known household products like Zoflora, Mr Muscle, Flash etc! Not to mention the cold beer that so few supermarkets here ever remember to put in the fridge.

'Good' I hear you say, but this shop is even better than your average British supermarket - in addition they even have 'take away' hot Pukka pies (including Sausage Rolls, Cornish Pastie and Cheese, Onion & Potatoe Slices), just in case you're on your way to the beach.
If you've forgotten that birthday etc they also have a selection of Greetings Cards & Banners.

Summer Opening times: All day every day.
Winter Hours: 10am - 9.30pm (Closed Tuesdays), Sundays 10.30am - 2.30pm
