The island's first organic supermarket opened its doors October 2007 in the spectacularly redeveloped centre of the village of Sant Jordi.
It can easily be found on the corner next to the village's town hall, with two mannequins wearing organic hessian welcoming visitors to the outside terrace, which is set with tables and chairs for those in no hurry and even incorporates a children's playground.

The light and airy interior contains a remarkable range of foodstuffs, the majority of which are certified organic.
The formidable selection includes babyfood, cereals, wines from the local Can Rich vineyard, a selection of pre-packed and loose pulses, flours, pastas, a variety of different milk options including rice, almond, soya and coconut, seaweed, teas and honeys.
They also offer a range of soups, salads and curries, which can be taken away or enjoyed hot on the outside terrace.
If you're going to experiment with an organic diet, this has to be the perfect place to visit in order to put your pantry in order.
s'hortet verd is open daily, (except Sundays) from 9:30 am till 3:30 pm (to serve those who don't finish work till 3 pm with their organic takeaway lunch!), then in the evenings from 5 till 8:30 pm.
