Even the isolated village of Sant Joan has its own library, although it is a fairly modest establishment. €It pretty much fulfils our needs out here,€ says the head librarian, Antonia Ferrer, although she admits that she would like to see more people taking the time to visit the library next to the town hall. €A lot of people have no idea that there is a library here,€ she thinks.

With a total of just 6,300 books, there is little space for foreign literature. If you can read Spanish, Antonia has a small but well chosen selection of classic and modern literature on hand to offer you, as well as a number of works focusing on philosophy, history and art history.
As far as the range of audiovisual materials is concerned, we should mention the wide selection of classical music CDs in stock, all of which can be borrowed. In addition, there are a small number of documentary films on (local and general) history and national history on DVD.
Two computers offer free internet access and can be used by library card holders and non-members alike.
