The traditional 'tiendas', that stocked whatever was in season plus a few other household essentials, can still be found in most villages, and by the wayside.
They date back to the days before the islands had regular connections to the mainland for supplies, but their role in Ibicenco society dates back centuries.
Nowadays you will find that many of the major global companies (think Spar...) have established a foothold in the highly lucrative market of supplying Ibiza's hungry population.
Everything you could desire is available - we even have specialist supermarkets catering for the different nationalities that make up this unique global village experiment.
Wherever you were born you can, more or less, buy the same products that you became familiar with when you were growing up.
Long live the global village...
