san jose townhallSan José (Sant Josep) is the largest of the five municipalities that make up Ibiza. It is also the one with the most beaches and coves along its 80 km of coastline, which stretches all the way from San Antonio in the north to Playa d'en Bossa in the south east.

The Municipality of Sant Josep de sa Talaia covers 157 km2 of the south western corner of Ibiza and is named after the island's highest mountain, which stands at the municipalities heart.

The town of San José is 15 kms from Ibiza town (Eivissa) and 9 km from San Antonio (Sant Antoni). The other villages within the municipality are San Agustin (Sant Agusti des Vedra), San Jordi (Sant Jordi de ses Salines), Cala de Bou, es Cubells and San Francisco (Sant Francesc de s'Estany).

The diversity of the extensive coastline offers beaches of many different characters, from large beaches in nature reserves to hidden coves of crystal clear water. The mountainous interior offers endless forests of pine, juniper, fig and carob trees.

A region of unsurpassed beauty, which is ideal for enjoying the beach, hike, cycling or horseback tour. For the culturally curious there are ancient Punic-Roman and Phoenician settlements to be explored alongside medieval churches and watch towers.
